The 4th annual Kingswear Regatta will take place on the 12th and 13th September 2009 on Waterhead Creek and at Jubilee Park, Kingswear.

The following is the details from Regatta 2008......

Welcome to Kingswear Regatta 2008 !

This our 3^rd Regatta in recent times, although the history of the event dates back to 1860. Last year’s event was a great success and we raised an amazing £6,000 for local charities. The main beneficiary was Dart Sailability, based at Noss, who organise sailing for disabled men and women. This year the main beneficiary will be Kingswear Community Primary School with other local charities benefitting too, so don’t be shy to spend some money!

You will hear the school orchestra play on Sunday and we hope to able to provide them with some additional instruments and equipment with the profit from this regatta. After the opening ceremony at 11am on Sunday a special memorial to Major Dick Parkes will be unveiled by his daughter Penny. Dick was chairman of the Parish Council and our local reporter for the Herald Express for many years and is fondly remembered by us all for his dedication to Kingswear.

You can see we have extended the programme this year and we really hope you can all enter into the spirit of our small regatta and have an enjoyable experience and support some special causes at the same time. In the event of bad weather some events will be transferred to the Village Hall as shown in the Order of Events ............ enjoy!

Our thanks to John Holman and the Darthaven team and Capt White our Harbourmaster and the DHNA for their suppot and invaluable assistance setting up the course, and again to DHNA for the loan of the pontoons. Please note: as parking is limited adjacent to Waterhead Creek, we suggest you park in Darthaven Marina car park if coming by car.
